\nAjahn Kevali (Phra Bhavanavajrajahn) was born in 1968 in Germany. After studying mathematics and physics in Berlin\, he joined the Sangha at Wat Pah Nanachat\, the international forest monastery in the Ajahn Chah tradition in Ubon Ratchathani\, founded in 1975 by Ven Ajahn Sumedho. He went forth as a novice in 1997 and became a monk in 1998 with Ven. Ajahn Liem\, the present abbot of Wat Nong Pah Pong\, as his preceptor. For the first five years\, he practiced under the guidance of Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro at Wat Pah Nanachat. He completed the traditional Thai monastic Dhamma-Exams in 2002. Afterwards\, he lived directly under his preceptor\, Ven. Ajahn Liem\, serving him as monastic attendant and translator within Thailand and abroad. In 2007\, he was asked by his two teachers to become the abbot of Wat Pah Nanachat. Being authorized by the Thai Sangha Administration to perform ordinations in Wat Pah Nanachat since 2017\, he undertook the construction of a traditional ordination hall in Wat Pah Nanachat\, which was completed in December 2022\, with HM King and Queen of Thailand presiding over the inauguration ceremony\, which was conducted by Most Venerable Somdet Phra Mahathirajahn. On Dec 28\, 2022\, HM King Rama X granted Ajahn Kevali the honorary monastic title of Chaokhun “Phra Bhavanavajrajahn”. In India\, Ajahn Kevali is currently engaged in overseeing the development of a small forest monastery in Haryana called “Aranya Sangharama” in the style of practice of the Ajahn Chah lineage.
