Chamba

We're bringing Chamba's events to On The Hills.

On the way

Chamba events — coming soon

The headquarters of Chamba district, at about 1,000m on the Ravi, and the capital of the old Chamba kingdom. The Lakshmi Narayan temple cluster stands above the Chaugan, the long grassy ground at the centre of town, and the Bhuri Singh Museum keeps the embroidered Chamba rumals and Pahari miniature paintings the town is known for. Each monsoon the eight-day Minjar fair opens on the Chaugan, named for the silk tassels, like maize blossoms, offered at the Lakshmi Narayan temple.

Once we're live, expect the Minjar fair week and its evening programmes on the Chaugan, walks through the temple quarter and the old palaces, the town's rumal embroidery and craft markets, and trips out to the Khajjiar meadow on the road to Dalhousie.

What we'll cover

  • Minjar fair on the Chaugan (July–August)
  • Lakshmi Narayan temple cluster
  • Chamba rumals and Pahari miniatures at the Bhuri Singh Museum
  • The Khajjiar meadow, on the road to Dalhousie

Every listing is checked by a person before it goes live. Want a nudge the moment Chamba is on?
