The short version: we list events other people run, no money passes through us, and we check listings by hand without being able to guarantee them.

1.What this is

On The Hills (onthehills.in) is a listings site for events in India's hill towns, operated by Ankur, an individual. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use it.

You do not need an account to browse. You do need one to list an event.

2.We list events, we do not run them

Every event on this site is organised by someone else. We are not the organiser, promoter, venue, or host of anything listed here, and we are not an agent for the people who are. We have no control over whether an event happens, whether it starts on time, what it actually turns out to be, or how you are treated when you get there.

Your arrangement with an organiser is between you and them. If an event is cancelled, moved, oversubscribed, or simply not what the poster suggested, that is a matter to take up with the organiser. We will help where we can, and we will correct or remove a listing that turns out to be wrong, but we cannot make an organiser do anything.

3.Using the site

Read it, share it, use it to decide where to go on a Saturday. That is what it is for.

Do not use the site in a way that breaks the law, interferes with it working for other people, or tries to get at parts of it that are not public.

4.Listing an event

To list an event you need an account with a verified email address. Some listings also require a verified phone number.

When you submit a listing you are confirming that the event is real and that you are involved in running it or have permission from whoever is; that the details you have given are accurate as far as you know; that you have the right to give us the poster or images you upload, including any photographs, artwork or logos in them; and that the listing does not break any law.

Listing an event that does not exist, or that you have nothing to do with, is grounds for us removing everything you have posted and closing your account.

5.Your content

You keep ownership of everything you submit. Posters, images, descriptions — they stay yours.

By submitting them you give us permission to show them on this site, to include them in the site's own listings, search results, guides and share previews, and to resize or crop them so they display properly. This permission exists purely so we can show your listing. We will not sell your poster or license it to anyone else.

If you take your listing down, we stop using its images going forward. Copies may persist for a while in caches and search-engine results, which we do not control.

6.We review everything, and we can remove things

Nothing published here goes live automatically. Every listing is looked at by a person before it appears, including listings whose details were first read off a poster by software.

We may edit a listing for clarity, correct an obvious error, decline it, or take it down later — including without warning where something looks unsafe, misleading, or unlawful. We are a curated listings site, not a noticeboard, and we do not owe anyone a listing.

7.RSVPs, tickets and money

No money passes through this site. We do not sell tickets, take bookings, process payments, or hold anyone's money. There is nothing to buy here.

The RSVP button opens WhatsApp with a message to the organiser already written. That is the whole mechanism. Anything that follows — a ticket, an entry fee, a deposit, a refund — is arranged directly between you and the organiser on their terms, and we are not a party to it and cannot refund it.

8.Accuracy

We check listings by hand and we hold things back rather than guess when a detail is unclear. That is a real process and it catches real mistakes. It is not a guarantee.

Dates change, venues change, events get cancelled, and organisers do not always tell us. For anything where being wrong would cost you — a long drive, a paid ticket, a booked night — confirm with the organiser before you travel.

9.What you may not do

Do not scrape, crawl for bulk extraction, or systematically copy listings from this site, whether by hand or by machine. Do not republish the site's listings as your own directory. Do not use contact details published here to send marketing, spam, or automated messages.

Do not upload anything you do not have the rights to, anything false, or anything designed to harass someone.

10.Our own content

The site's design, code, written guides, editorial copy, name and logo belong to us. Event posters and organiser-submitted material belong to whoever submitted them.

Linking to us is welcome and needs no permission.

11.Accounts

Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has access to it.

You can close your account at any time by writing to hello@onthehills.in. What happens to your personal data and to listings you have already published is set out in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

12.Liability

The site is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or complete.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from an event you attended or could not attend, from a listing being inaccurate or removed, from anything an organiser does or fails to do, or from the site being unavailable. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13.Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Dharamshala, Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
