The Queen of the Hills, where tea estates fall away below the Mall and Chowrasta, and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — still runs its toy train through Ghum. Dawn belongs to Tiger Hill and Kanchenjunga; the rest of the day to the tea rooms and the monasteries.
Once we're live, expect tea-estate walks and tastings, Chowrasta cultural evenings, monastery festivals and Losar at Ghum, and the live-music nights Darjeeling's cafes keep up through the season.
