Dharamkot — Events & things to do

Dharamkot is the small backpacker village on the ridge above McLeodganj — quieter, greener, and built around cafés rather than a bazaar. Things to do in Dharamkot lean toward the slow and the participatory: drop-in yoga classes and teacher-training intensives run out of studios across the village, the Vipassana centre nearby draws people in for silent 10-day courses, and cafés host open mics and jam nights most weeks.

Workshops rotate through pottery, music and healing modalities depending on who's passing through and teaching. When you want to move rather than sit still, the forest walk toward Gallu temple is the standard loop — shaded, easy underfoot, and usually done before the afternoon cloud rolls in. Dharamkot doesn't have McLeodganj's temple or its bazaar; what it has instead is a rotating cast of small, drop-in things you can join same-day.
